The project           .  A low energy super retro-fit and extension,

Description.

This project was a true sustainable build using timbers fromthe surrounding woodland. The existing300 year old mill was ungraded with 200mm EPS EWI system that was extended downinto the ground and up over the wall plate into the loft was connected to theroof insulation.

The new extension incorporated an insulated raft foundationwith Tom Foster’s hybrid wall construction of 150mm timber frame with Osb3Smartply external sheathing and plasterboard internal full filled with Warmcell500and externally bonded 150mm EPS70 counter batten and timber clad, indicativeUvalue 0.14W/m2K

Roof construction is similar to walls with natural slatecover. Cold bridging was addressed by connecting seamlessly the outer layer of150mm EPS which also connect to the insulation from the foundations,

Windows and doors were Russel timber Tech triple glazed ecocontract

Description.

This project tackled the problems of a restricted site and restricted access with an innovative timber foundation and timber frame super structure, less tha 1/2m3 of concrete was used in the substructure to form leveling pads that supported reclaimed Jarrah crossing sleepers as foundation beams with timber joists and timber frame superstructure above.

The new extension incorporated an insulated foundation using 400mm of Leca expanded clay, with Tom Foster’s hybrid wall construction of 150mm timber frame with Osb3 Smartply external sheathing and plasterboard internal full filled with Warmcell500 and externally bonded 150mm EPS70 coated in Parex lightweight render system, indicative Uvalue 0.14W/m2K

Roof construction is similar to walls with corragated coated sheet cover. Cold bridging was addressed by connecting seamlessly the outer layer of150mm EPS which also connect to the insulation from the foundations,

Windows and doors were triple glazed UPVC
